The FAQ
What the heck is this?
Think of it as a throwback to the days when fan sites were more common instead of endlessly reblogging bad fan art on Tumblr or insisting everyone is wrong on Twitter
Why now?
Because it's the 30th anniversary, and because we've been talking about doing something like this probably since the 25th anniversary and definitely since the Return.
What movies are you covering?
Our goal is to review *every* episode. That means that yes, we do plan to use some "circulated tapes" for those Shout couldn't get the rights to release publicly.
This order looks weird! What the hell are you doing?
After much debate, we opted to go by using the order publicly released on DVD, either by Rhino or Shout, so that readers can "follow along" with us via their own copies. If we had gone by air date, there'd be too much "Deep Hurting" as there are a lot of episodes, especially early on in Joel and the Sci Fi run that are a bit iffy overall, in our opinion. There will be exceptions, of course, such as sprinkling in Jonah episodes along the way (or else those would take a long time to get to) and of course those not officially released.
How often do you plan to update?
We're shooting for 2 movies a week.
How often have you seen these films?
It depends. For newer releases, the odds are we've only watched them twice. For some not publicly released, it may be only once. For movies like Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, it's too many times to count. We're shooting for at least twice for every film, but that may not always be possible. (And in some cases--we're looking at you, Castle of Fu Manchu, seeing the film more than once is torture enough.)
What is your rating scale?
We're using letter grades, with plus and minus. That will enable us to have some variety in both the overall rankings and in our individual reviews.
What are you rating?
The movie itself, the riffs, the host segments, and any short/serial, if applicable. We'll use those to make an overall grade.
You suck! X is my FAVORITE MST3k Episode!
We're so sorry you're wrong.
What about Rifftrax, Cinematic Titantic, the live shows, and heck, how about Film Crew?
At 2 movies a week, just doing original flavor MST3K, this project is going to take around two years to finish. If anyone still cares about what we think (or ever cares, hahaha), we'll consider doing the same thing with the spin-offs available for home viewing. MST3K live is amazing, but currently there's no way to re-watch them.
Can I contribute?
We'll be testing leaving comments open, so certainly! We encourage interaction! But in terms of the official posts, not at this time. The idea is for this to be about sharing our love of MST3k with the world, not about hosting a general fan site.
Where can I buy that background?
Steve Seck will happily sell it to you! http://secktacular.storenvy.com/collections/119283-all-products/products/6522862-wheres-servo-mst3k-print
No, really, X is the best MST3K Episode of all time!
Repeat to yourself, it's only our opinion, you should really just relax.
